Warri –  The police in Delta state have rescued one Ogaraya Macaulay, a 75-year old woman who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in her farm at Ezionu village, Ukwuani local council, Delta state.

It was learnt that operatives of Dragon patrol team 23, while on routine patrol along Kwale/Ogwashi-uku express road, had a confrontation with the kidnappers before setting the victim free.

After unsuccessfully engaging the security agents, the hoodlums reportedly ran into the bush, leaving behind their Mercedes Benz V.Boot car with Reg. No. (Rivers) DW 357 PHC.

‘’ The occupants on sighting the patrol team made a suspicious u-turn. Consequently, the patrol men gave the vehicle a hot pursuit which forced the two occupants to abandon the vehicle and escaped into the bush.

‘’When the vehicle was searched, one Ogaraya Macaulay (f), aged 75 years, of Ezionu village in Ukwuani LGA of Delta state was found. The woman informed the policemen that she was kidnapped by the hoodlums on her farm’’ the Delta State Police Spokesperson, Celestina Kalu said.

Aside the vehicle, one locally made gun, three live cartridges and some charms were recovered from the suspected kidnappers who are currently on the run.

‘’Preliminary inquiry revealed that the said vehicle was earlier on snatched from one Christopher Obukowho ‘m’ by the fleeing hoodlums along Ogume road’’, the PPRO said.

It was learnt that the rescued victim has already rejoined her family, while efforts to track down the fleeing criminals have been intensified.
