BENIN CITY – The Director, Institute of Public Administration and Extension Services, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Dr. Edosa Enaruna has called on Nigerians to support President Mohammadu Buhari’s led administration in his determination to bring’s about positive changes in all sectors of Nigeria’s economy.
Dr. Edosa made the call in Benin City while speaking with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER on President Buhari’s 100 days in office.
He said, “As Public Administrator cum political scientists, 100 days may not be enough to adjudge the policies and programmes of a given leader, whether in the political or other areas.
“You will agree with me that the economy was almost at the verge of total collapse before the emergence of Mohammadu Buhari and knowing that the damage done by the Boko Haram sect in the North-East took a decisive step to relocate Military Command Formation from Abuja to Borno and Maiduguri respectively to confront the insurgents headlong.”
The Associate Professor of Political Science further posited, “President Buhari’s 100 days in office has also witnessed some diplomatic shuttles to neighbouring African Countries like Niger Republic, Chart Republic, Cameroun and even United States of America and Europe.”
He said, “these diplomatic shuttle within 100 days are yielding result with multi-national forces giving support to the Buhari led government to fight Boko Haram and other insecurity in Nigeria.”
“We can see the bombardment by the Nigeria Army against the insurgents and the Federal Government is re-claiming many towns and villages that were hitherto Boko-Haram base.
“It is the highest peak in office for 100 days. He (Buhari) has effectively co-ordinated the activities of the military in combating insurgency in the North-East, it’s infact very commendable,” he said.
On the anti-graft crusade, Dr. Edosa recalled the efforts of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s attempt at fighting corruption in public places through the setting up of Independent Corrupt Practice Commission (ICPC) and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), adding, “for Buhari, the crusade should be continuing.”
He said that “with the anti-graft crusade of President Buhari in this 100 days, looted fund will be recovered from all those involved as that will form the base upon which the President can get the money needed for proper take-off.”
