BENIN CITY-The Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police in zone 5’ Mr Musa Daura has commended the efforts of operatives of Edo Police Command at reducing crime to its barest minimum in the state.

AIG Daura gave the commendation Monday during his visit to the state police command headquarters, Benin City as part of his tour of the his zone comprising Bayelsa, Delta and Edo States.

He thanked the state police commissioner Mr Chris Ezike being alive to his duties and leading operatives of his command to record major breakthrough against criminals.

The AIG however advised men and officers of the state police command to operate within the five operational conduct of the Inspector-General of Police Mr Solomon Arase.

The guidelines according to the AIG are professionalism and intelligence based policing, zero tolerance for corruption, welfare of personnel and community partnership with the police.

“Try to have a local knowledge of your area in order to know criminal elements in your area”. AIG Daura noted.

Earlier, the state Commissioner of Police Mr Chris Ezike the interventions strategy the command adopted on his assumption of duty in Edo has started yielding positive results.

“It is gratifying to inform you sir, that these interventions have started yielding positive outcomes”. CP Ezike noted.

CP Ezike disclosed that the command has recorded drastic reduction in Highway Robberies, kidnapping and other violent crimes.

He maintained that some major roads that hitherto were nightmare for road motorists are now pleasures to them owning to intensified highway patrol by men of the command.

CP Ezike however mentioned the arrest of a gang of kidnappers who abducted, killed and buried professor Paul A. Erie of Agricultural Economics and Extension at the Ambrose Allie University, Ekpoma, Edo State as one the Command’s major breakthroughs, recently.

He assured the AIG of the command readiness and resolve to collaborate the state government and Edo people at taking safety and security to the next level.
