Benin – Edo Government has expressed determination to revamp most of its abandoned farm projects across the state.
Mr Joe Okojie, Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, disclosed this in Benin on Monday, when two youth groups presented Agro-Project blue print to him.
The two youth groups are Edo Youth For Good Governance, (EYFGG) and Initiative for Youth Awareness on Migration Immigration Development and Re-integration (IYAMIDR).
He said the planned programme was another source of shoring up revenue and increasing food production for the people.
The commissioner said that among some of legacies the present administration in the state would like to leave behind would be to ensure that the state assumed its lost glory in rice production.
Okojie called for supports of the stakeholders to enable the state government achieve its aim in rice production.
Earlier, the President of EYFGG, Mr Osaro Iyamu, lamented that youths in the state, who had embraced agricultural practices, were not getting the desired support from the government.
He called for the support of the state government for the youth in term of equipment and grant to boost their farm production.
Iyamu also urged the state government to put in place a friendly agricultural policy and revitalise the Agricultural Development Project (ADP) in the state.
