Edo State Governor,Comrade Adams Oshiomhole on Friday commissioned the Ojuromi’s Ultra modern market built at Uromi by the Chairman of Esan North East Local Government Area, Hon. Sam Oboh.
The Market, which was commissioned amidst pump and celebration by a mammoth crowd of dignitaries and people of Uromi, has 160 lock-up stalls contained in four separate blocks of storey buildings.
At the ceremony, Governor Oshiomhole, who was accompanied by his wife Iara, noted the huge crowd of people that had come to celebrate over the project which he described as a “huge achievement’, adding ‘I believe for our market men and women, this is the day they have been waiting for”
Commending Hon. Sam Oboh, the Governor said “I feel we should all salute our chairman for his honesty and competence. Across the country, North, South, East and West, many local governments are not able to pay even salaries of their workers but here today, (Friday), we are commissioning an ultra-modern market of his visionary leadership.”
While calling for a re-sounding applause for Hon. Sam Oboh, Governor Oshiomhole noted “while some of Sam’s colleagues are explaining why they can’t succeed, here Sam is celebrating. So I am proud of you.”
To the Onojie of Uromi, HRH, Zaiki, Anslem Eidonojie II, he stressed, “I am extremely happy to be here. So I want to congratulate the Onojie of Uromi.I believe that it is under your reign that all of these are happening in Uromi.”
The Governor explained that despite the paucity of funds at that time,the state government was still able to provide #25million for the project and he was also able to deliver on his promise to the affected traders when the market got burn last year.
While assuring Hon. Sam Oboh of the cooperation of the state government, Governor Oshiomhole, who thanked the women of Esan North East Local Government Area for being very supportive, assured the people of the council area that more modern school buildings with red roofs would be built in the local government area.
Earlier, the Chairman of Esan North East Local Government Area, Hon. Sam Oboh recalled that the Governor had visited Uromi to commission the Uzenema- Isua road project and that Comrade Oshiomhole had also executed some monumental developmental projects across Edo State which gave him the challenge as the council chairman to do likewise at the local government level.
The Council Chairman, who expressed profound gratitude to Governor Oshiomhole for providing N25 million towards the realisiation of the Ojuromi’s ultra modern market, describing it as a “star-project,” said the execution of the project was a dream come true
While emphasizing that his administration in Esan North Local Government Area had made impact in various aspects of the council’s economy, Hon. Oboh gave assurance that he was irrevocably committed to the execution of development projects in the area.
Highpoints of the ceremony was the cutting of the tape and inspection of project by Governor Oshiomhole accompanied by his wife, Iara, commissioners, leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC), Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor (Administration), Hon Frank Okiye and Royal fathers amongst other dignitaries.
