Benin City:-The life of a young man hangs in the balance following his refusal to join a deadly secret cult (name withheld). The young man whose name was given as Uwadia Edos, is currently on the run as several attempts have been on his life.
It was revealed that trouble started after the death of his father, when some of the members paid them an unholy visit, informing Edos that he must take the position of his father, as required by their law.
A close family member who claims anonymity, told our reporter that Edos father made him promise not to get involved in any cult activity, especially the one he belongs too, because of the kind of human sacrifices they made him do.
After the burial the members started making demands on Edos to join them or risks being killed. When the demand and harassment became unbearable, he absconded to an unknown place and is yet to be found.
A report has been filed by his uncle to the Police and investigation currently on going.
Cultism and cult activities has eaten deep into our society and their operations go on unabated, even so as the people who are supposed to bring this evil trend to justice, are part or those they use to maim and kill those who try to resist them.
