There are indications that the the sudden and mysterious deaths in the family of Daniel Ukeki in Uromi, Esan North East local government area of Edo state following the death of Pa. Ukeki could be linked to ancestral curse.
The Nigerian Observer learned during a special report on the Ukeki family that members of the family were dying mysteriously even when victims had no history of any debilitating medical condition.
A recent investigation in Uromi revealed that before the era of the great great grand father in the community, an ancestral curse responsible for the mysterious deaths was passed on to many generations both living and yet unborn .
A source close to the family, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the family had been plagued by the curse of death as reports in community indicated that so many members of the family from the time of the great great grandfather era had died mysteriously.
Recently, another member of the family, Pa.Ukeki ,father of Daniel Ukeki , was reported to have died mysteriously without suffering any medical condition .
Reports in the community also revealed that while some members have accepted the fate of death curse on the family others have decided to run away from the community to an undisclosed location because it is traditionally believed that the curse of death operates only within the African continent because of the belief in practice of voodoo through fetish powers. .
Daniel Ukeki who sources claimed might have died while running for his life to avoid the curse of death, it was gathered abandoned his wife and three children for fear of also dying mysteriously.
The young man who was into farming also worked as a welder in the community before his sudden disappearance to an unknown location.
Meanwhile, efforts to speak to members of the Ukeki family in Uromi proved unsuccessful as it was gathered that after the death of Pa Ukeki, other members of the Ukeki family were nowhere to be found as the people of the community certainly did not want to associate with the curse of death in the family through any of the family members.
It was reported that before the recent death of Pa.Ukeki ,plans by the community to banish the family over the ancestral curse of death were being considered.
