Abuja – The House yesterday urged the federal Ministry of works as a matter of urgency award contract for the completion of 19Km Sabo-Sobe Road in Owan West local Government Area of Edo State.
Moving the motion on the floor of the House, Hon. Pally Iriase, representing Owan East/Owan West Constitiency of Edo State said that Sabo clan which was carved out of the old Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State in August, 1991 was in a state of dilapidation and needed federal Government intervention .
“Sobe clan in Owan West local Government Area of Edo State was carved out of old Owo LGA Ondo State in August, 1991”.
“The only link road between Sobe and Sabongida-Ora, headquarters of Owan West LGA is a tortuous two hours journey through Ifon in Ondo State”.
Saddened over this ugly development and the urgent need to avert disintegration of this two communities who have lived in harmony over the years, Hon. Iriase informed the House that the Federal Government had in the past and in their wisdom had included these Areas in its rural integration Programme.
” the Federal Government, in its rural integration programme and the altruistic need to reunite Sobe community with their Kith and Kin in Owan West Local Government Area, awarded the 19Km Sabo-Sobe road Project to Piccolo Brunelli Engineering Limited in 2007.
Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara who presided over the plenary session later referred the motion to the Committees on Works and Legislative Compliance to ensure timely implementation of the construction work.
