BENIN CITY-A four-your old girl and her mother have been butchered in their rented apartment by unknown assailants in Benin City.

The assailants also locked and abandoned the woman’s one-year old baby inside a bathroom in the three bedroom flat.

The victims were identified as Mrs Itohan Enagbare, 28, and her four years old daughter, Iwinosa Enagbare.

The broad-day killings occurred at 2, Osazee Close, Off Okunseri Street, Off Dumez Road, Ivbiotor quarters, Benin City, last Wednesday.

When our crime reporter visited the house, a four-flat-two storey building surrounded by a massive wall fence, the staircase leading to the victims’ apartment was littered with blood stains.

The bereaved husband Mr Ikponmwosa Enagbare, a professional interior decorator said that he left his wife and two children at home in the morning.

He stated that they were preparing to visit Father Christmas when he left them at home that morning.

Mr Enagbare stated further that when he returned home in the evening that day he was shocked to see the butchered bodies of his wife and first daughter by the staircase leading to his apartment.

He disclosed that his one year old baby was discovered to have been locked in the bedroom by the killers.

“When I was living home I said to my wife, see you later, but when I returned home I met the bodies of my wife and baby stiffed at the staircase.

“The compound was empty, nothing was removed from my house.

“Before I got home I received a phone call from my neighbour inviting to police station, but I ignored it.

“I have been having issues with my landlady and her houseboy”. Mr Enagbare stated.

He however appealed to security agencies and relevant authorities to ensure justice prevail in the gruesome killings.

Contacted, the spokesman, Edo Police Command DSP Abiodun Osifo said that the victims’ landlady has been arrested over alleged involvement in the murder.

He stated further that “the landlady’s son is at large and efforts are on to apprehend him”.
