BENIN CITY-The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mr Solomon Arase has commended Edo Police Command for living up to expectations in crime prevention, control and fighting in the state.
Also, the command has been honoured with double awards for its outstanding professional commitment to safety of lives and property in Edo State.
The IG commendation was contained in a letter dated November 9th, 2015 with file number CB:5030/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.4/698 and addressed to the Commissioner of Police in Edo State Mr Chris Ezike.
The awards recipient CP Ezike made photocopies of the IGP letter available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER in Benin City.
“In consideration of your quality leadership and in appreciation of the sacrifice, dedication and professionalism of officers and men of Edo Police Command, I feel professionally bound to extend to you and your personnel this letter of commendation.
“This is evident in your recent achievements in the arrest of gangs of kidnappers, cultists and armed robbery suspects and the recovery of various kinds of arms and ammunition of various descriptions and calibre.
“It is my expectation that this will motivate you to sustain and advance the exceptionally high policing standards you have set in your command”. Parts of the letter stated.
Security Watch Africa honoured the Edo State Police Commissioner Mr Chris Ezike with the Best Police Boss in West and Central Africa in Anti-Crime category, award.
The award was presented to Mr Chris Ezike by the Vice President of the Gambia Dr. Isatou Njie Saidy in Houston, Texas, USA.
Similarly, the state police chief won the 2015 Distinguished Award in Crime-fighting of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria, on Thursday, December 3, 2015.
CP Ezike disclosed these while presenting the awards to the deputy commissioner of Police in charge of finance and administration, Edo Command DCP Abdulkadir Mohammed in Benin City, last week.
“I dedicate these awards to the officers and men of this Command whose hard work, renewed zeal, commitment, passion for excellent service delivery and other similar officers… who made these awards/recognition possible.
I also dedicate these awards to the Government and good people of Edo State whose engagement and partnership have elevated policing and law enforcement to another platform”. CP Ezike maintained.
