Benin – Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo says the State is not indebted to the tune of N350 billion as claimed by some opposition political parties in the state.

Oshiomhole stated this when the Edo South Association of Enigies (clan heads) visited him in Benin on Friday.

According to Oshiomhole, the only huge loan owed by the state is the N25 billion bond collected in 2010.

He also explained that the bond was being serviced and would be fully repaid by Sept. 2016 as N350 million was being deducted monthly at source from the state’s allocation.

He explained that the 75 million dollars World Bank Loan approved for the state was yet to be collected, adding that his administration was committed to improving the lives of the people.

He expressed regret that his administration was not able to actualise the Benin City Business Centre Master plan project.

The governor said he would ensure that the project, as well as others that could not be done during his tenure, were captured in his handing over note to whoever would succeed him.

Oshiomhole thanked the traditional rulers for their support, prayers and encouragement, saying that in spite of honest mistakes made by his administration, they ensured that peace prevailed in the state.

He said although there were challenges, the majority of them had been surmounted.

Oshiomhole urged the people to join hands in sustaining the development of the state.
