A tipper driver attached to the office of the Chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Council and two other persons have been declared wanted by the police over the gruesome murder of a local politician in Benin City ,Edo state.
Mr Jude Uwadiae, chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was brutally murdered in his home in Oluku on the outskirts of Benin City on November 6, 2015.
The police said in Benin City that three suspects, Trophy Alex, Kingsley Ode and Michael Obazee have been linked with the killing of the local politician.
Police spokesperson, ASP Tom Awara gave a graphic description of the killing and the roles played by each of the three suspects.
” Preliminary investigation has revealed that the late party chairman was shot dead by three assailants.” The police are working on the theory that the suspects were allegedly hired by a rival politician to carry out the dastardly act.
” The suspects,namely Alex Trophy, Kingsley Ode and Obazee drove to the scene of crime in an ash coloured Toyota Camry car on the fateful day, November 6,2015. The car was apparently driven by one of the suspects, Alex Trophy who the police have discovered, is a tipper driver attached to the office of the chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Council.
” On arrival at the scene of crime, two of the suspects; Kingsley and Michael went straight to the deceased’s sitting room where they met him on the dinning table. One of the duo instantly pulled the trigger, killing him.
” Efforts are on to arrest all those involved in the dastardly act while investigation into the killing continues”.
ASP Awara urged members of the public with any useful information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects, to report to the nearest police station within and outside the state.
There have been an upsurge in politically related killings in.the country in recent times which are being attributed to the outcome of the 2015 presidential election.
A member of the House Representatives in Ondo state was murdered last week in his country home in Owo. Two other prominent politicians were reportedly killed at the same time in Anambra and Rivers states.
The police have blamed desperate politicians for the series of killings, warning that the country was moving towards the precipice if the killings continue
