A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) Mr.ILobhogbe Obade in Ugbegun community in Esan Central local government area of Edo State has reportedly been pronounced dead after he was allegedly murdered by unknown gunmen.
The alleged murder of the APC Chieftain was said to have occurred on Dec 27, 2015 in his private residence when his alleged killers gained access into his apartment .
It was said that his killers confronted him(deceased politician) to know if his only son, ILobhogbe Endurance was also at home during the attack in which Mr. ILobhogbe Obade responded by saying that his only son ,who at the time of the attack was hiding in one of the rooms in the family house, was away from home.
His killers who were desperately after father and son, according to a source in the family, angrily shot at him before instructing his little sister who was at home to inform his brother (ILobhogbe Endurance ) that there was no hiding place for him to run to as he was next to be eliminated.
According to the source in the family who craved anonymity, the deceased politician with his large support-base and intimidating influence in his party was on several occasions wooed with huge financial inducement to defect to the opposition party but on several occasions he vehemently rejected the offer.
The source further stated that recent developments in the family of the deceased politician suggested that the several death threats to his life and that of his son ILobhogbe Endurance, who deploys his musical talent in criticizing bad government policies , eventually culminated in his alleged murder.
” Prior to his alleged murder, the deceased politician had been threatened on several occasions with death threats letters for rejecting the opposition party offers and sadly he was murdered in his apartment by some unknown gunmen who came in a motorcycle on December 27th 2015.” the source added.
Meanwhile, confirmed reports in his community in Esan Central revealed that investigation by the Nigerian Police Into the case of the alleged murder of the APC Chieftain was yet commence .
A statement made available to journalists by the Edo State Command of the Nigerian Police stated that it received a distress call on the alleged murder of an APC Chieftain in Ugbegun in Esan Central local government area adding that its men and officers have taken over the case .
Also, there are strong indications that the surviving son of the deceased politician, whose whereabouts remain unknown, might have taken on his heels in a deliberate attempt to escape his father’s killers who on several occasions in death threats letters sighted by our correspondent vowed to eliminate every living member of the family of the deceased politician prior to his alleged murder.
