BENIN CITY-The Police in Edo have intensified a clampdown on suspected cultists arresting three of their kingpins while a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered in raids on flashpoints across the state.

Our reporter reliably gathered that the ongoing onslaught followed scaring confessional statements made by some suspected cultists earlier apprehended by operatives of the Anti-Cultism Squad of the state police command.

It was revealed that some high profile cultists were planning to pretend as strong supporters of a political party with the intent of infiltrating and destabilizing its state executive.

It was gathered further that one of the strategies to be deployed by the hoodlums was to slam a serious allegation against a preferred aspirant on the party’s gubernatorial primary in the state.

Sources disclosed that some persons said to have been mentioned in the botched plan to create political tension in the state, are now on the run.

The Spokesman, Edo Police Command DSP Osifo Abiodun stated that the renewed onslaught against cultists in state was a directive of the state Commissioner of Police Mr Chris Ezike.
