Yola – The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties, Sen. AbdulAziz Nyako, has said that the North East Development Commission Bill is almost due for public hearing.

Speaking to newsmen in Yola on Wednesday, Nyako said that the bill which had gone through the second reading in both chambers of the National Assembly was at committee level.

He said that the bill would be consolidated with a similar one sponsored by Sen. Kabiru Gaya from Kano.

“As it is now, the bill is on my desk; the matter was referred to the committee on special duties that I am heading after the second reading,” Nyako said

He said that the bill was meant to address the devastation and socio-economic problems in the North East geo-political zone.

Nyako lauded the successes so far recorded by the military in degrading Boko Haram insurgents and called for sustained support for the security agencies to accomplish the task.
