AUCHI- The elders of Iyakpi Clan in South Ibie Community, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, have declared wanted one Suleyman Anthony Omoh, over his alleged involvement in gay practice, an act proscribed by the Nigerian government.
The now at large Omoh according to sources privy to the alleged abominable gay act was caught pants down while in the amorous act with his partner simply identified as John by one Mrs. Fatima Abu, who later raised the alarm.
According to the said Fatima, a mother of two, the two suspected gay love birds were deeply engrossed in same-sex affairs when she stumbled on them on January 6, 2016.
The bewildered Fatima, a next house neighbour to John, it was learnt unsuspectedly went to John’s house on the said date with a view to borrowing matches to light her cooking gas only for her to be shocked with the actions of the two gay suspects.
Fatima was said to have immediately drawn the attention of the youths and local vigilante members around who subsequently apprehended one of the suspects John while Suleyman Anthony Omoh, managed to escape.
The NIGERIAN OBSERVER scooped further that the irked youths of Iyakpi gave John beaten of his life before handing him over to the police for further investigation and onward prosection in court.
Speaking to Our Crime Correspondent in Iyakpi, one of the elders, Alhaji Usman Abuda, said that homosexuality is a serious taboo in their land most especially as a stunch Muslim Community, adding that offenders are usually stoned to death when caught.
He disclosed further that following the abominable act of Omoh and John, strange things have been happening in Iyakpi lately, a situation he averred informed the decision of the elders to declare Suleyman Anthony Omoh wanted.
Abuda threatened that if caught anywhere, Omoh would be made to face the traditional consequences of his actions.
Contacted for comment, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Zone ‘5’ Headquarters in Benin City, DSP James Madu, confirms the report, disclosing that the police have commenced preliminary investigations into the criminal incident with a view to arresting the fleeing gay suspect Suleyman Anthony Omoh.
Recall that the immediate past president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, on March 14, 2014 signed into law bill that criminalised homosexuality, gay marriages and other amorous relationship as offenders shall face a minimum of 14 years jail term.
