BENIN CITY-Three oil workers reportedly abducted have been rescued unhurt by operatives of Edo police command.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo Mr Chris Ezike disclosed yesterday that the oil workers were kidnapped along Old-Benin Lagos road, around Oluku area of Edo State on their way to Lagos, last Tuesday.

Mr Ezike stated this when he received management team of the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) who were in his office to show appreciation for the prompt rescue of their staff, few hours after the abduction.

The police boss assured them of adequate security needed for their operation in Edo State.

The Managing Director, Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), Benin, Abubakar Sadeeg Mai-Bornu thanked the police for the speed with which rescue was made.

“I am here to thank you and your team for the effort made towards the successful rescue of our colleagues, we saw them at the hospital, thank God they are hale and healthy”. MD Abubakar stated.
