BENIN CITY- The life of a taxi driver Ovenseri Kinsley has been put in a very serious danger for refusing to become a member of a deadly secret cut known as Eiye.
There has been consistent pressure on Ovenseri Kingsley from persons suspected to be cultists The NIGERIAN OBERVER learnt.
The pressure on Ovenseri Kingsley however took a deadly dimension on a fateful day January 20, 2016, when a gang of persons stopped him (Ovenseri Kingsley) as a taxi driver and he stopped thinking that they were normal passengers but to his surprise, the gang of youths instantly pulled him out of the taxi and started punching, slapping and kicking him.
In the helpless situation and due to severe beating, Ovenseri Kinsley fell down but the gang of boys did not stop beating, they even picked sticks and began to hit him on different parts of his body and in no distant time Ovenseri Kingsley started bleeding from his head, nose and some of parts of his body until he went into a state of coma lying on the ground on the road side.
During their attack, his taxi was vandalized and he was injured on his right shoulder by the gang of cultists.
Seeing Ovenseri Kingsley motionless on the ground, coupled with the arrival of the police, the gang of boys ran away leaving him in his pool of blood.
Fortunately for him, as the team of policemen appeared in the scene, they immediately rushed him to E and H Medical hospital and Maternity home for instant medical attention in order to save his life.
It was while in the hospital that he regained consciousness and identified himself as Ovenseri Kingsley and revealed that he had been attacked severally in the past by the same cult members just because he had been hesitating to join their deadly cult group.
Investigation by The NIGERIAN OBSERVER discovered that one Mr. Frederick Itua, residing at NO. 15, Sokponba road, Benin City had gone to report and incident the attack on Ovenseri Kingsley at the Police Station on the same January 20, 2016.
Due to the incessant attacks by the cultists that have put his life in a great danger, Ovenseri Kingsley has escaped from his residence at Ekenhua Road, Benin City to an unknown destination for his own safety.
