Nigeria’s Super Eagles were promptly paid their win bonus of $2,000 each as well as training camp allowances while the sports minister and League Management Company (LMC) chipped in with donations of $10,000 each after they beat Niger 4-1 in their opening group game at CHAN 2016.
The team were also feted at the Nigerian high comission in Rwanda with plenty of Nigerian food to feast on.
“We have been paid our bonuses and allowances,” reported one of the team officials.
“Everyone is happy and proud with a winning start.
“Besides the cash, we also enjoyed good Nigerian food at a dinner in the embassy which was attended by the sports minister and top officials including the NFF president.”
Chisom Chikatara was the star of the day when he came off the bench to score a hat-trick for the fans to overlook a forgettable goalless first half when Niger’s offside tactic frustrated the Eagles.
