AGENEBODE – The Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Francis Alimikhena has said that the present administration of President Mohammodu Buhari has kept faith with its transformation and change agenda.
Senator Alimikhena stated this recently in Agenebode, the administrative Headquarters of Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State during an end of year party organized in his honour by the Usagbe Club.
He said the criticism of the Buhari administration is due to the change being introduced that is not going down well with the people and is difficult to adapt to. “Truth is always, bitter that is why APC change cannot be sweet; we are changing from deceit to truth, from what it was to what it ought to be,” he added.
The federal lawmaker who represents Edo North Senatorial District said the PDP has no internal leadership and should not expect the Buhari administration to build on its (PDP) faulty foundation which has kept the nation in the dark since 1999.
According to him, the APC change is a bitter change because it has reduced the level of criminal consciousness in the society, adding that those who the change did not favour referred to it as bitterchange.
He said that as a nation, no matter how bitter it may be “we must endure, stressing that the 2016 national budget which is with the National Assembly is targeted at deepening efforts to diversify the nation’s economy.
The budget, he said has also guarantee that the instability in the oil price does not affect the development plans of the present administration and economic stability of the nation, saying that APC is safeguarding the nation to ensure the stability in the value of the naira, as well as build and maintain a healthy external reserve.
Senator Alimikhena assured the people that with the passage of the budget, Nigerians will have many things to hope about as new road network, restoration of infrastructure, rehabilitation of transportation, aviation, power, education and agricultural reforms would soon commence.
He said that apart from oil, Buhari’s administration would explore other critical sectors, like rubber, palm oil, gold, diamond, fish and other agricultural produce in order to restore the past glory of the nation in food production.
According to him, the Buhari’s administration would pursue a more aggressive, focused and people oriented policies for the overall interest of the masses, adding that “As Nigerians, we must be ready to sacrifice to fast track our level of development.
Assuring the people of Edo North of ongoing effort to re-position hailing industries by encouraging more private investment and government agencies to take advantage of the cement deposit in Edo North as well as other natural resources that are laying fallow in the area.
He promised to explore all available channels to engage youths in Edo North in productive activities as well as improving upon the ongoing youth empowerment program which has helped more than 150 youths of Edo North to secure employment.
