Basking in the euphoria of appreciation for the unprecedented landmark projects that Edo State Governor, Comrade  Adams Oshiomhole of has executed in the state, members of the public have continuously appealed to him to choose a successor who would continue with his people-oriented projects whenever he goes on inspection of any of the projects in the state.
The appeal resonated again when Governor Oshiomhole  embarked on an inspection tour to on-going projects such as construction of Upper Lawani Street project and dualisation of 2nd East Circular Road project in Benin City on Friday.
One of the residents of Upper Lawani Street,an elderly man, Mr. Felix Irorere said, “God bless you. I am praying for you because when you came, you did not meet anything on ground. You have laboured so much, let nobody spoil your work. Make sure that, whether people talk or not, make sure you chose somebody who will be able to take after you and not spoil what you have done.
“Don’t be ashamed or afraid, don’t look at their their faces, make sure the right person comes in. You will live long,” he asserted..
At 2nd East Circular Road, a resident of the area, Mrs. Eunice Obazee said, “We are very happy to see that Oshiomhole is working on the road. Now we can transport ourselves from here to New Benin. This road was very bad before now, you couldn’t pass through Uwa Street to New Market and vehicles coming stop half way but now, the road is in good shape. We will support and vote for whosoever he brings out to succeed him.”
Mrs. Goodness Akudike said” He has done so well for us because many government abandoned this road for years. He is the only person that understand and remember this road, so I am very grateful, I love him so much and I thank him”.
Also speaking, Mr. Ikponmwosa Ohenhen said, “I really appreciate him, he has done well. At least, in his time, there is proof of his leadership in this state. This road was not good before now, even getting to Uwa Street was impossible.
Even rebuilding Uwa Street to St Joseph alone is very okay by me and I want to tell the people of the State to be obedient to the government so that when they follow the instructions of the government, things will become better because when they are not obedient to the laws of the government, they can do and undo and nothing will be achieved”.
Another resident of the area, Mrs. Lucy Arewan, “This road was very bad before, no vehicle could pass through this area before, it was that bad. God will continue to bless Oshiomhole for us and continue to reward hin for us. Oshio baba really tried for us and we appreciate him”.
In the same vein, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Lucky Imasuen, who could not hide his feelings after accompanying the state governor on the inspection tour of the Upper Lawani road, 2nd East Circular road dualisation and Ultra-Modern 200-bed Central Hospital projects all in Benin city, bore his mind saying “When you are on the other side of the aisle, you tend to criticize without really looking at what Comrade Governor is doing.
” I have seen things for myself, this is unbelievable. While State Governors are struggling on how to pay their workers and  pensioners, not only are pensioners and workers being paid in Edo State, this man is moving the impossible.
Lucky Imasuen said, “I have gone around with him to Upper Mission, Upper Lawani and 2nd East Circular, I have gone on my own to Teachers House and it’s environs and the man is doing wonderfully well.
” It is good to criticize, I have no objection about that. Opposition is healthy for our democracy but when you do criticize, you must do so constructively. That way, when you do criticize, people can then take you seriously. This man is doing magic and personally, I am blown away and it is my hope and prayers that God continues to bless him and give him the wisdom and the ability to continue this wonderful job he started few years ago.
“I am appealing to all Edo people irrespective of your political affiliation to come on board, come and see what he is doing, thank him for what he is doing so we can continue our movement”, he said.
The Governor was accompanied on the inspection tour by top government functionaries including the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor  (Administration), Hon. Frank Okiye.
