BENIN CITY-The police in Edo have recovered 34 Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs), cache of sophisticated arms and ammunition during a mop up operations across the state.

The state Commissioner of Police Mr Chris Ezike disclosed this to journalists in Benin City, recently.

He gave details of the arms and ammunition to include 21 Ak-47, three TO6, and two G3 rifles.

Others are one Pump Action gun, one locally made pistol, four cut-to-size guns, 131 rounds of 7.62mm, four live cartridges and 47 AK-47 rifle Magazines.

Mr Ezike explained that some suspects including two female arms peddlers were arrested during the operations.

He stated that by the recovery Edo State has become safer and better to live and transact legitimate businesses.

The police boss attributed the achievements to the scientific methodology adopted by the command, Support of the state government and collaboration with members of the public.

“Partnership with the Edo Community has proven an unquantifiable asset in this war against crime and criminality.

“I counsel all citizens of Edo State to remain vigilant, determined and ready to abhor, condemn and report all acts of criminal impunity”. The CP stated.

He stated that the command has intensified investigation to track down fleeing suspects.
