Swiss-born UEFA scribe and FIFA presidential candidate, Gianni Infantino, has said that he was not disappointed with the decision of the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to back Bahrain’s Sheikh Al-Khalifa in the presidential polls on February 26.
Infantino spoke to sports journalist at Hotel Serena in Kigali after the CAF executive committee rose from its meeting to announce Salman as its preferred candidate to replace Sepp Blatter as FIFA president.
“I am in no way disappointed by the decision of the executive committee of CAF,” Infantino said.
“This action today is only by a committee of the entire body but I believe that we have 54 football associations in Africa and those are the people that will vote in Zurich.
“I hope to take my message to these federations and I am optimistic of realising my dreams of helping to reform our beautiful game.”
