DR Congo coach Florent Ibenge has described the Guinea team they beat in the semifinal of the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) as the Brazil of African football.

Speaking at the press conference after seeing his team struggle to eject Guinea 5-4 on penalty shootouts at the Amahoro Stadium after they had drawn 1-1 in 120 minutes, Ibenge said Guinea is a very talented team that plays a good passing game.

“They are the Brazil of Africa because of their style,” he added.

Ibenge, who also helped DR Congo finish third at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), said he had studied the Guinea team well and knew that they had to work hard and score first against them.

“I was angry with my players for failing to score in the first 45 minutes because the Guinea team were not so fresh because they had played Zambia few days ago in a game that went into extra time,” he explained.

However, he said he was happy that his team managed to get to the final and added that they will work hard to make sure the trophy is taken to DR Congo.

Ibenge said they do not under estimate any team and will always approach every team in a different way depending on their style.

“We need to make use of the three days we have before the final and also get some players to rest before the final on Sunday,” added Ibenge.
