BENIN CITY – Operatives of Edo police command have quizzed the traditional ruler of Illushi clan,  Chief Ike Kebordi over illicit drugs allegedly recovered from two of his subjects in Illushi town, Esan South-East local government area of Edo State.
It was gathered that Chief Kebordi was arrested following intelligence reports received by operatives of Anti-cultism unit at the state police command headquarters, Benin City, last Friday.
Confirming his arrest and release, the Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command DSP Osifo Abiodun said two of the boys said to be Chief Kebordi’s subjects were also apprehended.
“Chief Ike Bordi was arrested on information that he deals on weeds suspected to be Indian-hemp.
“And our operatives swung into action and cordoned off the place arrested two of his subjects and recovered bags of weeds suspected to be Indian-herbs.
“The Chief himself was also quizzed, the case is under investigation”. DSP Osifo disclosed.
The command Spokesman further revealed that on conclusion of investigation the command would either charge the case to court or transfer to drug-law enforcement agencies.
