BENIN CITY – The All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee of Inquiry on Recovery and Illegal Possession of Government Property has accused one Etiosa Roland Omokaro of illegally collecting and misappropriated the sum of N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira) belonging to Oredo Local Government Council in Edo State
In a press release endorsed by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. D.E. Osunde said that despite the emergence of new government functionaries in Edo State under the leadership of the governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; Mr. Etiosa Roland Omokaro was still collecting illegally, the local government revenue on behalf of Oredo Local Government without remetting same to government coffers.
“Following the emergence of the new Executive Council in Edo State, under the political platform of APC, and subsequent directive that all former government functionaries should submit every government property in their possession, we are very surprise that the former Peoples Democratic Party Youth Leader, Etiosa Roland Omokaro was still collecting illegally, such critical revenue on behalf of Oredo Local Government Council without remitting same to the appropriate quarters”, Osunde said.
“We have invited him severally to appear before the Committee of Inquiry set up to investigate the affairs of Revenue collection in the state over the years. Every invitation to this effect has been rebuffed by Mr. Etiosa Roland Omokaro”, Osunde added.
Meanwhile, reacting to the petition by the State Committee of Inquiry and refusal by Etiosa Roland Omokaro to honour police invitation to aid investigation and peaceful resolve of the crisis, the state Police Command have declared wanted, Mr. Etiosa Roland Omokaro to explain his level of involvement in the alleged collection and misappropriation of internally generated revenue belonging to Oredo Local Government in Edo State.
In a statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO, DSP Moses Eguavoen said handsome reward awaits anybody with useful information that could lead to the whereabouts of Mr. Etiosa Roland Omokaro.
The statement further stated that such information should be reported to the State Police Command or the nearest police station.
As at the time of filing in this report, the whereabouts of Etiosa Roland Omokaro could not be ascertained.
