Benin city – The chairman of the state Economic Team and frontline governorship aspirant in Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has fired back at the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Chief Dan Orbih over his accusation of the Edo State Governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of planning to sell the $75m World Bank Loan at the black market rate.
Mr. Obaseki in a swift reaction said the claim by the PDP chairman is a show of shame and the level of ignorance of the PDP chairman. Adding that the PDP leadership should verify the educational status of their chairman and review his stay in office for so long.
According to Godwin Obaseki, Edo state needs an intelligent and educated opposition party chairman who can criticize the state government effectively from an informed and critical point of view and not a dunce; because an educated personality will not comment on public issues that he is ignorant about. He described PDP as a deformed political party which is too outdated to withstand this age of information technology.
The governorship hopeful who spoke through his Press Secretary, Benjamin Atu has however invited the Executive and members of the People’s Democratic Party in the state on a one month project tour round some of the World Bank Loan Projects across the state with relevant documents. Governor Oshiomhole has given value to every government investment on project whether in road, water, schools, electricity or erosion controls etc. government has never compromise on standard in order to have value for money.” He said.
He expressed regret over the ingratitude of the PDP which in nine years of reign in the state could not pin point a specific achievement apart from ghost projects which were implemented in their pockets and family compound of their party leaders.
He however, enjoined the opposition party to join the rest of the world to celebrate APC and Adams Oshiomhole who has set a standard as the best governor Edo State has produced since the inception of democracy in 1999. He dared the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to come out with their achievement during their stay in power.
While commending the National Assembly for their approval of the Loan, Godwin Obaseki said the ignorance of the PDP chairman cannot be more intelligent than the senate of the federal republic of Nigeria which in its wisdom approved the passage of the loan due to the record breaking score card of Edo state government in effective implementation and use of previous loans on concrete and visible project.
