BENIN CITY – Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission recently embarked on an inspection to the 10 kilometre Oduna-Ewudu Ekehuan Road currently being constructed and asphalted by the Commission.
The EDSOGPADEC team led by its Chairman, Barrister Vincent Osas Uwadiae took its time to inspect every inch of the road construction and gave strict instruction to the Contractor to ensure that every shortcoming pointed out is corrected to the letter before the Commission’s visit.
These communities have been in existence for centuries; cut off from civilization but only accessible by foot paths through the forests.
With the construction and asphalting of the road linking various communities, it now takes only about fifteen minutes to travel from Benin City to Ewudu-Iboro and Ekehuan towns.
Speaking while inspecting the road, the Chairman of Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, Barr. Uwadiae lauded the high quality of materials used in the execution of the project by the Contractor but observed that at the tail end of the road there was need to expand and lengthen the drains in order for the road to stand the test of time.
Barr. Uwadiae and Prince Ehioze Erediauwa (Member representing Ovia North East Local Government Area on the Board of the Commission) said that the culvert which must be covered with concrete slabs should get to the River Iboro end of the road with the additional complement of a solid drain to divert the flood away from blocking or polluting the river in order to avert another Queen Ede Erosion situation in the locality in the nearest future.
Some indigenes and inhabitants of the locality who were on hand during the inspection tour were full of praises for EDSOGPADEC and the Governor Adams Aliu Oshiomhole’s administration for opening up the area which they said is a dream come true.
Meanwhile the EDSOGPADEC team had also visited the Network of 26 roads it is also constructing and asphalting in lkpoba Okha Local Government Areas where the Contractors were enjoined to redouble efforts towards delivering a world class job so as to inscribe their name in gold in the heart of the inhabitants of the locality.
The EDSOGPAD1 boss was accompanied on the inspection tour by other Members of the Board including Mr. Wellington Okoh, Aihaji Yakubu Abass, Barr. Promise Ademi-Akpeto, the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Board, Mr. Lucky Wasa and other top Management staff of the establishment.
