Pandemonium broke out on Friday February 29, 2016 as a suspected homosexual allegedly killed a police officer and escaped in the process.
Azeke Austin was said to have hit the officer on the head with a fire extinguisher in a hotel (name withheld) in Benin City, Edo State, leading to apprehension, panic and fear as everybody in the area scampered away for fear of reprisal attack by men of the police force.
It was gathered that, Azeke Austin was more into amorous relationship with male counterpart than females since his days at secondary school and had been harassing and luring fellow male students into an uncompleted buildings around the school premises including bushes where he usually had sex with them, according to the school principal (name withheld) who volunteered information about Azeke Austin during his days at secondary school.
Our paper further scooped that Azeke Austin was in 2010 caught red-handed having same sex intercourse with one Christian Idawor who was apprehended in the process and burnt to death by residents of the community.
He was reported to have narrowly escaped the scene until 2013 when he was again engaged with one Jennifer which gave his close associates impression that he had renounced homosexuality.
But that was not to be as the said Jennifer in company of her friend on December 24, 2013 caught Azeke Austin in his room apartment when they visited making love to his male lover, Kester.
Jennifer’s friend according to sources could not behold the scene as she screamed out alerting residents and passersby on the abominable act committed by Austin.
The scenario was reported to have attracted mob who gave Austin the worst ill beaten of his life, while Kester narrowly escaped from being lynched, before the arrival of the police who arrested and detained him at the station.
But for his girl friend, Jennifer who informed the police that the allegation by her friend was mere false alarm, Austin would have been sentenced to 14 years jail term, according to the Nigeria law.
Still freakened by his desire for male partners for sex, Azeke Austin who is a member of Association of Homosexuals alleged checked in a hotel on the fateful day with a male lover but were arrested by a team of police men who were on raid of the premises.
The police officers were said to be taking Austin and his colleagues down stairs when his partners suddenly received a call on his phone.
The police officer was alleged to have turned to demand for the phone from Austin’s partner when suddenly, Austin grabbed a fire extinguisher and hit the officer on the head leading to his death, before running away and had not been seen or heard of.
Meanwhile, the police has declared Azeke Austin wanted and urged anybody with useful information that could lead to his arrest to report at the nearest police station
