BENIN CITY-Burglars have killed a night guard in a failed attempt to bungle an exotic phone shop at Airport Road in Benin City.

The victim identified simply as Abudu aka Papa Oshiomhole, father of four was killed few hours before he was to be paid his March salary by his employer.

The whereabouts of another night guard scheduled to be on duty with the deceased when the hoodlums struck at the wee hours of Monday, remained unknown at press time yesterday.

Though no one has been able to ascertain what actually transpired, the victim’s corpse with hands, mouth, nose and eyes tightly tied up was discovered at the shop premises, yesterday morning.

It was gathered that the deceased may have died of suffocation as no physical wound was found on his body.

The hoodlums could not break into their targeted phone shop owning to the burglary proof.

His wife, a food vendor said she became worried when her husband did return home as usual.

She added that when calls made to his phone were not answered she promptly visited his office where she was told of the unfortunate incident.

Similar incident is a recurrence in most areas housing computer, phone handsets and electrical appliances in the state capital.

Contacted, the Public Relations Officer for Edo State Police Command, DSP Osifo Abiodun, stated that he was yet to be briefed.
