EHOR- The oggy of violent crimes involving some youth groups in Uhi village, Uhunmwode local government area of Edo State has assumed a worrisome dimension following alleged attempt to bury one Efosa Agbonghae alive by a deadly confraternity.
Distraught villager revealed that Efosa was rescued from a grave where he was buried with sand covering all his body except his head by some local hunters who hurriedly pulled him out after they were attracted by his fainting cries for help.
The shock striken hunters and the entire villagers are said to have sworn to get to the root of the serial violence in the community which have been linked to rival cult groups allegedly backed by the political elites.
Our sources hinted that before the latest bizarre occurrence, many youths in the village had lost their lives in needless supremacy battles among rival cult groups a situation that has caused great apprehension among harpless villagers.
They hinted further that Efosa Agbonghae whose whereabouts is currently unknown was said to have confided in some close friends of his willingness to quit cultism and related crimes he was cajoled into at the early stage of his life, a development it was learnt set other members of the dreaded cult against him who vowed to eliminate him
Trouble they hinted started when the victim (Efosa Agbonghae refused to carry out a dangerous assignment which required the killing of three persons in cult wars to gain promotion to the kidnapping unit of the criminal gang and chose to go into hiding in the farm where the assailants had trailed him to and attempted to kill him by burying him alive.
However, the police have commenced investigation into the incident but there are fears that not much will be achieved in this regard following the link of top politicians to the occult group more so that the victim is nowhere to be found to give evidence that could assist the police in their investigation.
