BENIN CITY – The seven-man ad-hoc committee constituted by the state House of Assembly to investigate the chairman of Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Area Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), Mr. Vincent Uwadea has given him 45 days to mobilize contractors to Olumoye community in Ovia North East Local Government Area to commence the water project there.
The committee headed by Honourable Festus Edughele gave the ultimatum when the chairman of the commission appeared before the committee.
The appearance of the EDSOGPADEC Chairman followed a petition against him alleging corruption, marginalization and diversion of water project earmarked for Olumoye community.
Speaking during the committee’s sitting, the chairman said findings by the committee showed the matter was a case of relocation of project and not of diversion.
He urged the authorities of EDSOGPADEC to ensure that after the drilling, a water treatment plant is installed to reduce the concentration of iodine which is found in the community.
The chairman of the committee described the timely intervention of the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bright Osayande on the matter as an act of God, noting that the representation of the people of Ovia North East can not be short changed by any means.
