OSHOLO-A tipper has rammed into a crowded canopy at a burial ceremony killing a pregnant woman and two others at Osholo village in Etsako East local government area of Edo State.

It was gathered that several other persons sustained varying degrees of injuries in the tragic accident.

Consequently, the driver of the lorry and his conductor were allegedly set ablaze by angry mob, bringing to five the number of persons killed in the community.

The vehicle was said to be cruising from Ekperi axis and heading towards Weppa in Etsako East local government area when the driver probably lost control and rammed into the crowded canopy.

The Commissioner of police in Edo Mr Chris Ezike disclosed that the prompt response of police in the area contained the violence that followed the accident.

CP Ezike further stated that though five persons lost their lives in the incident, the police command has commenced full scale investigation into the unfortunate incident.

It was further gathered that the incident later triggered inter-communal violence which left some houses razed in Osholo community, last week.
