BENIN CITY – The World President and President of Antioch of Nigeria A & N, Great Yvans Edosomwan, has urged the people of Benin Kingdom to strictly adhere to the order given by the Benin Traditional Council, (BTC), in respect of the mourning of the Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Erediauwa.
Edosomwan made the call while reacting to the attitude of some indigenes of Benin kingdom towards the said order, saying that some of the males had defied the shave your hair order as a mark of respect for the departed Oba.
He wondered why a Benin man would defy such an order when it was apparent that it was a way of giving last respect to the departed Oba.
Edosomwan who cautioned against flouting the custom and tradition however, urged all Benin sons and daughters to abide by the laid down rules from the palace of the Oba of Benin in appreciation of the exemplary roles of the Oba.
He, however, described the transition of the Oba as very sad, while describing his reign as very productive to the people, irrespective of tribe ethnic, religion and social affiliations.
He prayed that the Oba of Benin would continue to rest in peace, even as he consoled the Benin Royal family, especially the Edaiken N’Uselu, HRH (Amb) Prince Eheneden Erediauwa to take solace, while praying God and the ancestors to give the royal family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Edosomwan also prayed for the smooth ascension to the ancestral throne by the Crown Prince so that he could transform the Kingdom to a greater height.
