Police in manhunt for 22 – Years old student

Police have began manhunt of a 22 – years old Student of the Auchi Polytechnic, Junior Igiekhume, following the death of a Septugenerian, Pa Ayie, in Usogun Community of Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The 71 – years old Chief Ayie was alleged to have died from the bullet wound sustained when some suspected cultists invaded his home in search of his son, Raheem Ayie.

The cultists were believed to have been led to the deceased Septugenerian’s house by Junior who is also from Auchi community.

Investigation by our reporter revealed that the attack in the house of the late Chief was part of the reprisal attack by the Maphite cult group whose two members were felled by the guns from a rival cult group in the area.

As a result, Junior who has since fled the area was mandated by his cult group to led the squad to eliminate Raheem who was believed to have killed the two Maphites.

Auchi community that play host to the Auchi Polytechnic, is always in the news for cult related activities.

The recent killings account for most deaths in the area and the security agecies always seems at lost on how to handle the situation as it was revealed that several of the police officers belong to various cult groups.

When our correspondent visited the home of Junior to speak with his parents, it was discovered that he is an Orphan who only lived with his two younger sisters.

According to one of the sister, Nana Igiekhume, she alledged that her brother’s decision to join the cult group was for protection.

She stated that they have known no peace since the incident and had to plead with one of their brother’s friend to assist him to leave the country.

“We had to do this because the other cult group vowed to track him down through their members that are scattered across Nigeria.

“To tell you how serious they meant it, they said that they will kill him even if he is in the police cell,” she stated.

The Auchi Area Commander of the Nigeria Police, Mr David Jimwan confirm the incident but decline to give detail of what the security agency is doing about it.

“All i can tell you is that the story is true and that we have began an attempt to arrest the culprits,” he posited.
