BENIN CITY-A 75-year-old woman has been murdered and laid on the same bed with her four-year-old grandson in Benin City.
Late Mrs Bessy Egbeobamwonyi’s killers broke into her apartment at night, slit her throat, stabbed her severally as they abandoned her in a pool of blood.
Family sources hinted that the victim four-year-old grandson was sleeping beside her on the same bed when the assailants struck, last weekend.
It could not be ascertained at press time whether the four-year-old child was drugged by the killers of her grandmother as he reportedly slept throughout the night.
An adult who was also in another room in the house that fateful night was also said to be unaware of the deadly operation as they woke up on Sunday morning to discover her corpse.
The unfortunate incident occurred at Oseye Street, Off Okunwague Street, Off Upper Sokponba Road, Benin City.
It was gathered that operatives of Ugbekun Police division have visited the scene of the incident.
The Public Relations Officer for Edo State Police Command SP Osifo Abiodun could not be reached for comments.
