TIGHT security, orderliness characterised the Edo State gubernatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Benin City, yesterday.

Large turnout of delegates from the three Senatorial districts of Edo State besieged the three designated accreditation centres preparatory to Sam Ogbemudia Stadium, venue for the main primary.

The State governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was accredited about 12noon at Imaguero College being designated accreditation venue for delegates from Edo north Senatorial district.

Heavily armed security operatives manned Imaguero College on Sapele Road, Agbado Primary School on Mission Road and Judge Ida Primary School in GRA, Benin City venues for the accreditation of delegates.

SUNDAY OBSERVER visit to the centres revealed that the accreditation of delegates was going on smoothly and peacefully as delegates conducted themselves in orderly manner under the watch of armed security personnel.

The State Commissioner of Police Mr Chris Ezike and the Director of State Security Services (DSS) Mr Ibrahim Halilu were sighted supervising activities of their men at various points in the state capital.

The delegates however hailed the security arrangements as they expressed confidence at the outcome of the primary.

A total of 2,783 delegates are expected to vote in the primary.

Meanwhile, voting was about to commence as accredited delegates were being moved in Comrade Buses into the stadium at the stadium at press time yesterday.

It will be recalled that the state commissioner of police Mr Chris Ezike had last Friday disclosed that no fewer than 1, 200 police personnel supported by other sister security agencies would provide security for the event.
