BENIN CITY- The Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Force have reawaken the war against the rising cases of homosexuality in the country and declare total war on all the declared wanted suspected persons involved in the illicit act.

The Acting Inspector General (IG) of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, while addressing journalists in his office in Abuja recently said the federal government under the watchful eyes of President Muhamadu Buhari has zero tolerance for homosexualism in the country. The IGP said the files of the wanted list in the 36 states of the country should be re-opened, and holistically revisited.

Also speaking recently on the matter, the minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohamed said that the police has been giving a matching order to fish out the culprits mostly in our higher institutions of learning, where the menace has continued unabated, especially in Edo State, where their nefarious activities have become very worrisome across both sexes.

It would be recalled that sometime in early January 2014, the federal government, under the leadership of President Dr. Goodluck Ebelle Jonathan issued a very hard statement and stringent laws on homosexualism, after detailed legislation by the two upper Houses of Representatives and Senate against it totally and also criminalized into various years of imprisonment of 20, 14 and 10 years depending on the degree of involvement.

Moreover, all effort for the former president of the United States of America, Barrack Obama to persuade Nigeria to accept the illicit law failed, since it was generally alien, unafrican and unacceptable to us. The government has since promogated new laws as all the religious beliefs in the country, including african traditional religion forbids it.

In line with the IG’s directive, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 5 Head Quarters, Benin City, Alhaji Musa Daura, and the Edo State Commisioner of Police (CP) Chris Ezike have already swung into action by ordering the detailed investigation and arrest of all suspected cases and victims of all homosexuality cases in Edo State police command.

It would be recalled that on May 14 this year 2016, a young man, school dropout undergraduate of Biochemical Engineering Department of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma In Edo State, in his mid twenties evaded arrest, during serious operation on suspected areas by the Police.

The young man Enaburekhan Peter from Ewatto village in Esan South/East L.G. Area and a Christian eldest son from a family of six was said to have been aided by his gay lover, simply known as Kelvin to escape, when the police stormed their hideout house.

A very reliable anonymous source revealed that on that very fateful day in May, a crack police team, fully armed swooped on their hideout, around Benson Idahosa University suburb area of Ugbor in Benin City. The source added that during the police raid, Kelvin hid his partner, Enaburekhan Peter in a very hidden place in the house and submitted himself for arrest along with many others, who have since been convicted to various terms of imprisonments.

Another very reliable source, close to the escapee Peter, also revealed that he was last, sighted in Ogba Area of Lagos State in company of his brother Enaburekhan Destiny Osazee.

Meanwhile, Enaburekhan Peter and his many other cohorts still at large have been declared wanted by the police with a handsome reward for any successful informant that can help the police, leading to any arrest.
