A middle – aged man, Tony Kelly has said that his life is in great danger, possibly to be killed for refusing to accept traditional title of becoming the Chief Priest of a village shrine which his late father held sway before his demise.
Tony Kelly was threatened by the elders of his Umogu village In Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, following his refusal to accept the traditional ritual title which he said was always served with human blood to appease the gods of the land.
It would be recalled that Tony Kelly’s father died sometime ago while serving as the Chief Priest and no sooner the burial rites were done, than the people, especially the elders started asking him with force to accept the position his late father just vacated through death and in exercise of his fundamental human rights, declined to accept being a devoted Christian.
It is on record that his refusal never gone down well with the elders, hence they threatened to deal with him for defying their order. As such, they ceaselessly threatened his mother to persuade her son, but when there was no head way, they influenced the invasion of their house by their (Elders) Miscreant/Assassins, who were targeting him to kill but the young man, Tony Kelly narrowly escaped.
An eye witness who gave detailed accounts said after the escape of Tony Kelly, the elders then pronounced banishment on him ordering anybody that sees him to give information on how he will be apprehended and killed.
