A middle-aged man identified as ODEMINLIN JOSEPH OYERIBHOR has reportedly died from complications from alleged assault by suspected members of Marphite, an extremely dangerous cult group in Benin City.
It will be recalled that members of the Marphite cult group had been on the trail of ODEMINLIN JOSEPH EHINOMWEN , son of the deceased middle-aged man.
According to information made available to the Nigerian Observer, the son of the deceased middle-aged man was formerly a student of the University of Benin who dropped out of school in 2004 owing to increased pressure from members of the cult group who desperately wanted him initiated as a member.
It was gathered that the son of the deceased middle-aged man whose wherebouts remain unknownn had to venture into truck driving as a means of livelihood.
A source who pleaded annonymity said the fleeing son of the deceased middle-aged was again harrassed on several occasions by members of the dreaded cult group who were desirous of having him initiated into the cult group or eliminated if he refuses the membership of the group.
Trouble however started for the deceased middle-aged man when members of Marphite cult group stormed his family house on the fateful day in search of the fleeing young man but were unable to track him down as his middle-aged father was rather unfortunate to be at the receiving end of the wrath of the cultists who violently manhandled him to unconsciousness.
In a death threat letter sighted by the Nigerian Observer, the suspected members of Marphite cult group however threatened to unleash more terror on the family of the deceased middle-aged man adding that it would continue to hunt down the fleeing son of the deceased middle-aged man.
Confirmed reports however revealed that the middle-aged man was hospitalized immediately after the assault but was tragically pronounced dead few days later on July 27th 2016.
Meanwhile, a statement made available to journalists in Benin said that it received report of the tragic incident of the sudden death of a middle-aged man who died from complications from assault by suspected members of Marphite cult group on the life of ODEMINLIN JOSEPH EHINOMWEN.
The statement further stated that its men and officers are on the trail of the suspected members of the Marphite cult group responsible for the death of the deceased middle-aged man while investigation into the case of the continued threats to the family of the fleeing young man continues.
