BENIN CITY – The Benin Traditional Council (BTC) has made clarification on the use of ‘Monarch’ or Traditional Ruler in Benin Kingdom.
In a statement, Secretary, BTC, Frank Irabor stated that the Oba of Benin has the exclusive right to be addressed as “Monarch” or ‘Traditional Ruler’ in Benin and as well as allowed to use the appellation “His Royal Majesty.”
According to the statement “No Enogie in Benin is referred to as a Monarch.”
The statement added that “all Enigie are normally addressed as “His Royal Highness” and are under the authority of the Oba of Benin, the statement concluded.
