BENIN CITY . A young lady, Jennifer Ogbeiwi whose husband was brutally murdered by cultists in Benin City on November 24, 2012 is now battling to save her own life. Jennifer also lost one of her twin babies during the attack on her family.
Her late husband, Osaigbovo Best was a member of the dreaded cult group, Eiye Confraternity. Incidentally , Jennifer was put in the family way by Best at the age of 13 and gave birth to twins by sheer divine intervention. Sometimes in early 2012, Best was assigned to assassinate a member of a rival cult group. He however drew the ire of the leadership of the Eiye Confraternity after he failed to carry out the nefarious assignment. Consequently, he became a target for elimination.
Tragedy eventually struck on November 24, 2012 when Best and Jennifer hosted a birthday party for their twin babies named Osas and Osagie at No. 1, Akpabi street, Egba, off Upper Sakponba Road, Benin City.
Some unidentified gunmen suddenly burst into the party and one of them drew a gun and shot directly at Best’s chest. He slumped and fell on one of his twin babies, just as the gunmen fled the scene. They were rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital ( UBTH) where doctors battled in vain to save their lives.
Pained by the tragic loss of her husband and baby, Jennifer vowed to unmask those who killed her heart-throb and baby. She knew they were members of the Eiye Confraternity as her late husband had once confided in her of the dangers he faced for not abiding with the Confraternity’s oath of allegiance.
She reported to the police and two members of the cult group were arrested on suspicion of being the killers of her husband and also responsible for the death of her son.
Jennifer’s boldness to report to the police apparently put her own life in jeopardy.
Immediately the two cultists were picked up by the police, Jennifer started receiving threat messages. It became obvious that her life was in imminent danger. To save her life, she reportedly went into hiding at Idogbo village. A source also reported that she and her baby would have been murdered but for the help of some unidentified human traffickers.
Now, almost four years after the tragic death of her husband and baby, the whereabouts of Jennifer and her surviving baby remain unknown just as their lives continue to hang precariously with constant threats from cultists.
