BENIN CITY – Ahead of tomorrow’s governorship election in Edo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo State yesterday took delivery of sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria in Benin City under a tight security arrangement.

The commission, in the presence of agents of the 19 political parties participating in the election, and six INEC Resident Electoral Commission (REC) deployed to the state for the election purpose immediately commenced the distribution to the headquarters of the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

The INEC Assistant Director on Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Prisillia Imoudu-Sule confirmed this to The Nigerian OBSERVER in a telephone interview.

It was gathered that beginning from the early hours of yesterday, fierce-looking armed security operatives were seen in and around the Ikpoba-Hill headquarters of the commission in the state.
