BENIN CITY – The All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate, Mr Godwin Obaseki yesterday urged the People of Edo state not to be deceived by the gimmicks of the opposition parties, as the state is too complex for any simple agenda to unravel.
Obaseki made the plea on Wednesday at a ward rally in Oredo and Ikpoba-Okha local government areas. According to him “it is unfortunate that people who lack both the moral and professional capacities to govern a state are manufacturing unrealistic agenda that has lost taste with reality.
Obaseki reiterated that given current realities Edo has complex needs that require expert measures, stressing that the solution for development goes beyond professional politician brandishing and so-called simple agenda.
He said, “it is important not to forget the transformation Governor Adams Oshiomhole brought into the state. He therefore urged the people to vote for him as governor in order that progress made so far will not be abandoned by the same group that almost brought the state on its knees.
“Oshiomhole came to Edo State as a freedom fighter. He fought tirelessly to deliver the state from the hands of wicked and unreasonable men and as such we cannot afford to let the state slide back into wrong hands again”.

Obaseki promised to build on the foundation already laid by the Oshiomhole administration by linking Ekenhuan to Ogida Ugbowo via Ogida, Teachers House and Asoro in order to provide various access point in the state capital. This, he explained, will go a long way in reducing the heavy traffic logjam and the stress of passing through ring road to connect other parts of the town.
According to Obaseki, the APC administration has demonstrated that governance is all about service and fulfillment of promises made hence the people can trust him to deliver more profound development for the state.
Obaseki maintained that if voted into office, his administration will empower youths of the state in order to make them relevant to the jobs he promised to create while in office. This, he said, will end the era of bringing other nationals to come and do the same work that can be better handled by our youths.
“Our youth will be trained in our Vocational and technical colleges that will soon be established in various part of the State to prepare them for the jobs we will produce when voted into office”, he stated.
