BENIN CITY —The Edo State Police Command have declared wanted one Okonzuwa Anthony wanted.He is wanted in connection with the recent clash between members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) at Idah Primary School,Ward One,Benin City, during the Edo State governorship election that took place on September 28,2016.
Information gathered by The NIGERIAN OBSERVER indicated that Okonzuwa Anthony and was a party agent to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the Ward,on the election day.
He and other party agents were at the Idah Primary School voting centre as party and field agents to their various political parties monitoring proceedings.
It was also gathered that during the voting process,armed men,who were alleged to be ambers of All Progressives Congress(APC) drove into the school premises and started shooting sporadically to scare voters and the security men in the venue. The armed men,whose intention was to carted away electoral materials and snatch the ballot boxes caused commotion and confusion as voters and security ran for their lives.
It was further gathered that the some Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) members and agents did everything possible to protect the electoral materials.In the process there was argument between both the PDP and APC agents.The argument degenerated into a serious fight between APC and PDP agents.One of the APC agents,Iyawe Paul stabbed Anthony,and in anger he picked up a wood and struck Paul on the head and ran away. Paul bled to death before he could be taken to the hospital.
The APC members pursued Anthony,who fled the scene,to his house and burnt it down.
Since the incident Okonzuwa Anthony has not been seen. The police have declared him wanted to explain his level of involvement in the death of Iyawe.His whereabouts is unknown as at the time of filing this report
