BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has expressed profound gratitude to the State Executive, Local Government Chairmen, leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their support that led to his victory during the September 28, 2016 governorship election in the state.

Speaking during a meeting with the state leadership, executive members and the local government party chairmen of the APC in Benin City, Friday, Governor Obaseki said the meeting was a forum to express appreciation to them. He said, “This afternoon is an occasion to say, thank you to the state executive of our party. I discuss with the Comrade and the Chairman last night. The decision was that we will invite, first, the chairman and his committee to say, thank you for the job you did in making sure that we had victory in the last election. We just decided to expand the meeting to include the party chairmen in the local government areas who have been scheduled to meet in Benin today. So, this meeting is just to say, thank you to the state executive and the local government executives. We will in due course involve everybody and hold another occasion to thank the leaders of the party properly for the marvelous support most of you gave during the last election.”

Governor Obaseki continued, “I want to use this opportunity to inform you that since we took over government last week, what we are trying to do is to do some stock-taking to understand how things are in Government House, to understand what is going on in each ministry, to review the promises we made during our election, to see whether the resources we have is enough to meet those promises. So, we are just doing ground work. Over the next three weeks, we will conclude what we are doing, and then invite a much larger house.”
