The Okuokpellagbe of Okpella Kingdom, Etsako East Local Government Area, Edo State HRM, Alh. (Dr.) Andrew Yesufu Eshioramhe Dirisu JP, CON was at the weekend, presented with a leadership award for community development, by Afenmai World Congress, Inc. USA.
Presenting the award to the Royal father in his palace in Okpella, President of Afenmai World Congress, Dr. Chief John Emale who described the Okuokpellagbe as a world statesman, commended him for his contribution to the promotion of peace and unity as well as the development of Afenmai World-wide.
“The Executive took into consideration his contribution to the founding and success of Afenmai World Congress since inception and continuous attendance of our conventions, held every year, that’s why we considered giving him an Award”
Responding, the Awardee while expressing an appreciation to the President and entire members of Afenmai World Congress, thanked them for the honour of bringing the award from the USA to him in his palace. The royal father, commended the organization for its commitment and consistency in working for the unity of Afenmai Land as he pledged his continuous support for the organization.
“ I want to express my joy over this wonderful Award which is a show of respect from an organization which is a world acclaimed one, to bring this award from USA and to present it to me in my palace. Its Something I will remember forever. I want to let you know that it gives me much challenge, that if ever I have impressed you, I only pray to God for long life to enable me do more. Out of many organizations I am affiliated to, Afenmai World Congress is my best because it comprises of very responsible Afenmai people, an organization which do things the way it should be done. May Allah give us the enablement to appreciate ourselves, and to do whatever would make Afenmai very united”.
Speaking further, in an interview, the AWC President, Dr. Chief John Emale pointed out that as part of activities marking its 10th Anniversary holding next year, the organization intends to open a field office in Afenmai Land while it would double effort in helping communities confronted with disasters as well as Award of Scholarship to indigent students across Afenmai land.
Present at the occasion was the Queen of Okpella, Barr Mrs Bose Dirisu, Secretary of Okpella Traditional Council High Chief R.A. David, Snr Village Head of Okpella High Chief S.A. Ugonor as well as the personal assistant to the Okuokpellagbe of Okpella, High Chief A.Y.E. Ahmed.
Afenmai World Congress Inc. was incorporated in May 2006 as a State of Texas Non Profit corporation to serve as an umbrella organization of all Afenmai affiliated Associations, throughout North America and beyond.
