Egor:- It was a complete show of shame in  Evbuotubu Community in  Egor  local government area  of Edo State as two young boys were caught in the act of same-sex affairs by angry youth who unleashed severe torture on them before handing them over to the police.

The two boys  identified as   Aiyevbomwan Rawlins   and Victor Osamede who are both from Edo state , were caught  in the act  in the apartment of  Aiyevbomwan Rawlins .

It was gathered that after the boys were beaten up by the angry youth of the  community, they  confessed to have committed the sacrilegious act which is against the custom and tradition  of the land.  

One of the suspects, Aiyevbomwan Rawlins in his  confessional statement however said that he was lured into the act at the age of 12   in  boarding house  during his secondary school  life.

Meanwhile,  the Nigerian Observer gathered that the other suspects, Victor Osamede until  his arrest  worked as a  laundry man in the community .

 Chief Osaro Oscefe, an elder in the community in his reactions said  information had  reached  the elders in the community that Aiyevbomwan Rawlins and his lover  had been inducing  young boys  with monetary gifts  in this community in other  to lure them into the act.

 He said that after the elders received the news of the ungodly act of the boys with shock, the youth agreed to lay siege on them in other to catch them in the act. 

 

In his words, ”Same sex, either with man to man or woman to woman is prohibited in this community. in fact , it is a sacrilege. Any person caught in the act will be banished  from this community forever, and therefore handed over to the law enforcement agency for prosecution .”

  Meanwhile, the Police after the arrest of the two boys released the suspects  to members of their respective family pending the outcome of investigation into the alleged act of same-sex affairs.  

 The  Police spokesman, DSP Ahmed Shehu   during a  press briefing in Benin  confirmed  the incidence which  occurred in December 2016.

He said that the Police  upon  the completion of its investigation re-arrested one of suspects, Victor  Osamede and  the  other  suspect, Aiyevbomwan Rawlins who could not be  arrested as it was learnt that he ran away from his house  has since been declared wanted. 

  In Nigeria same-sex affair is sacrilegious and against the law of the land as offenders upon conviction are liable to 5 to 14 years imprisonment according to the provisions of the law proscribing the sacrilegious act. 

Meanwhile, The Nigerian Observer gathered that, Victor  Osamede is undergoing trial for his involvement in the alleged act of same-sex affairs and could face up to 14 years in prison upon conviction.
