BENIN CITY – The police in Benin City have declared one Igogbe Samuel of Oza Nisi community, in Orhionmwon local government area of Edo State wanted.
According to the police, the wanted Igogbe Samuel was suspected to be a member of a kidnapping gang terrorizing the state.
The police, who disclosed this at the state Headquarters in Benin while parading suspected criminals before journalists said other members of the gang have been arrested.
“Igogbe Samuel popularly called Duke 1 in the area had haboured this gang at his apartment in Oza Nisi where they use as a take off point to Benin City and its environs to kidnap their victims
“We acted on intelligence reports and raided their hideout at Oza Nisi community near Abudu where we arrested one Desmond,the ring leader and 3 others”, the police spokesperson, DSP Moses Nkombe said
DSP Nkombe said Desmond has been in Oza Nisi community since mid November 2016 adding that he was trailed to where he was finally arrested with his gang members on January 3,2017
The police spokesperson however appealed for any information that will lead to Samuel’s arrest.
“Those arrested will be charged to court soon after we have concluded our investigations”, he further added
When our crime reporter visited the house at Oza Nisi community, the gate to the building was under lock, as everyone refused to speak over fear for their lives.
However,a close family member of Samuel told our reporter that Desmond was not a friend of Samuel but was introduced to Samuel by his friend (name withheld),who is an indigene of Oza Nisi.Desmond came to visit Samuel’s friend who could not accommodate Desmond but asked Samuel to let Desmond stay with him.
The family member added that Samuel who is married with Children,is a hunter,timber magnet and farmer and his not involved in any criminal activities.
Igogbe Samuel has not been seen since the January 3,2017 raiding of his house by the police
