Lionel Messi appeared to confirm rumours of Neymar’s departure from Barcelona on Wednesday after wishing him luck in a social media post.
As speculation as to the 25-year-old’s future reached fever pitch following weeks of rumours of a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that Neymar had asked to leave the club.
Following reports that the Brazilian had left Barcelona on a private flight to London to “clear his head,” Messi posted an emotional message to his team-mate on Instagram.
He said: “It was an enormous pleasure to have shared all these years with you friend.
” I wish you luck in this new stage of your life.”
Neymar is rumoured to be headed to Paris Saint-Germain for a record fee of €222 million.
